The developments and the investment that the Med Serv company is making in what they have to do with customer services and training for its workers were discussed during a visit that the Central Administration of the General Workers’ Union performed in the company in connection with the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the creation of the GWU.
During this visit the General Secretary Josef Bugeja was informed of the latest investments that the company is making with the aim of continuing to expand its operations in several important regions for the oil and gas industry, with especially in the Mediterranean region and even the Middle East. Among the latest interesting developments in which the Med Serv company is involved is the collaboration with the University of Malta where a study is being carried out on the possibility of storing renewable energy at sea. In fact, this study is currently going through an experimentation phase where a prototype of this project was installed in Dock Number 1.
The Secretary General of the GWU, who during this visit was accompanied by the President of the GWU Victor Carachi, by the Deputy Secretary General Kevin Camilleri and by the Secretary of the Metal and Construction Section Jesmond Marshall, said that what is being the Med Serv company is encouraging because it is securing the future jobs of the workers and providing an opportunity where the workers can increase their skills and progress in their career. Bugeja showed his satisfaction for the cooperation that exists and the accessibility of discussion between the two sides which is leading to the most investments and improvement in the conditions of the employees. He stated that this shows how an active Union in the workplace can lead to improvements that will be beneficial for both sides.
